You asked and we listened! New for 2018 – Culloden Day Trips!
This trip has been carefully structured to give you a truly remarkable insight into the lives of Scottish Highlanders in the 18th century. First stop, the township at the Highland Folk Museum which gives a flavour of how Highland people lived and worked from the 1700’s. Then onto Culloden itself.
Fans of Outlander will know that the Battle of Culloden was bloody, quick, and monumental in transforming Scottish Highlanders’ lives. On the battlefield, you will be able to see exactly where the battle lines were drawn and the two sides started out before the bloody fight. You may also spot clan stones which have been put there to mark out the Scottish families that fought and fell, including one for the Frasers.
We highly recommend also spending time at the new richly-researched Culloden Visitor Centre.
On our return, we include a stop at the Clava Cairn stones. Although Craigh na Dun is fictitious and the stones are brought in for the show, Clava Cairns is a real historic burial site with standing stones, as imagined by Diane. See if you can go through the large stone as in the show, or the split stones in the books.
The cost per person is £100. Please note there is no additional guide accompanying you on this trip.
