Here are some of our new reviews from 2015.
“A great day in Linlithgow and wonderful Outlander Scottish Music”
My wife and I visited Linlithgow as part of a tour with Mary’s Meanders organised by Emma and Anne. It was our first visit and they gave us a wonderful insight into both the historic sights around Linlithgow and also about the Outlander series which were filmed in the local areas, they will also have a new Outlander Tours which will soon be launched by Mary’s Meanders. We also managed to get a brief trip on the Union Canal on one of the local Union Canal Society boats, which I could easily have done for a lot longer. Finally we returned to the Star & Garter Hotel where the walk started, we then had a light lunch and fantastic entertainment by the local Scottish Band Boorach. They performed both traditional Scottish tunes, but also a few from the Outlander series. Overall I was really impressed with the organisation and I am really looking forward to experiencing their Outlander Tours later in the year. A big thank you to Emma and Anne for having us!
I recently joined a group walking tour of Linlithgow with Anne and Emma who are both very warm and friendly and immediately made the group feel at home in their home town. Both are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
We explored some of the historic sites, learned tales from the town and picked up lots of extra trivia about various Linlithgow landmarks as we meanered along.
If you are an Outlander fan like me you will be pleased to know that Anne and Emma are full of info about filming locations in the area and run tours specifically on the subject.
Overall a great day out and the perfect introduction to this fascinating historic Scottish Royal Burgh.
Thoroughly enjoyed our Outlander Tour with Mary’s Meanders last month.
If you are a Crosstitch (or as it’s called in the US Outlander) fan then you should do this tour.
Emma arranged it over email and made a tour perfect for our timings and Anne, our Guide, was so knowledgeable right from the start we knew we were in good hands.
We chose to drive ourselves (and Anne), but they can drive you if that’s more suitable and the tour of Central Scotland, where they filmed most of the first series was informative, fun and often breathtaking as the scenery is stunning and all in context of the book/TV series.
Anne’s obvious love of the story and her knowledge of the region and its history (you get lots of Scottish history gems too!) was a joy and as we finished before heading back to watch the series again (!), we kept saying how fortunate we were to have local people able to steer us around the countryside and show us places that the bigger tours just won’t know.
Can’t recommend it highly enough.
