Time to get that Tartan shawl out again and settle down for 90 minutes of music, chat and all things Scottish. We have another great Brunch event lined up for you on Saturday May 23rd with the very entertaining local band, Boorach who many of our visitors will know from our Outlander Dinner Show experience. Also joining us are the super talented Denise and Pep from Time Travelling Cook who have wonderful stories from their time on the Outlander set and will also give us an insight into Medieval Cooking.

INTRODUCING OUR GUESTS

Boorach

Boorach, a 3 piece Folk and Ceilidh band, from Torphichen that have been together now for almost 10 years, they have played most areas in Scotland and as far away as New York (for Tartan Week Parade) also in Gloucester (Massachusetts) USA, plus, dare we say Englandshire!! They also cover old traditional songs like Wild Rover, Dirty old Town, Whiskey in the Jar etc for all the hardcore traditionalists out there. Oldest band member is Frank who sings, plays the Bodhran, Cajon and Ukuleles, he is originally from Burnley. Keep an eye out for the Cossack dancing keyboard/snare drum/guitar player Arran, a sight to behold, these 2 are kept in line by the very talented Fiddle/Mandolin player Heather, both were born and bred in Torphichen. “Boorach” (check out the meaning of the name).

Time Travelling Cook

With over 25 years’ experience between them working in the history sector, Denise and Pep started The Time Travelling Cook 2 years ago to bring the food of the past to life, visiting schools and providing talks and displays for museums and historic properties. Before Time Travelling Cook, Pep worked as a combat stunt performer for many years and has worked on a variety of Films and TV shows, including working on most seasons of Outlander. On Season 5 of Outlander Pep appeared in front of the camera briefly but then stayed behind the camera as a consultant, helping the supporting actors to fire cannons safely and correctly. Denise has taught about historic food for over 10 years, visiting schools and museums and also consulting and preparing medieval banquettes for various TV shows including BBCs “Rise of the Clans”. Denise has also appeared in front of the camera for Outlander and worked in the costume department for the Film “Outlaw King” and various TV programmes.
