| Hi Everyone As we look forward to the holiday season and the year ahead, we have some exciting new tours. If you want to remind yourself of our current travel advice, click here We were lucky to be able to attend the Clanlands Almanac launch at The Usher Hall in Edinburgh with Sam and Graham, and they were on great form. It was also so good to catch up with some of our Outlander friends, though not enough. A proper get together in the New Year would be fabulous. Outlander news has been fast and furious with the Bees launch and the new series announcement for March. So, we are buzzing (pun intended) with anticipation. Hello to all our new followers from the online event by The Wake County Library, in North Carolina. What an amazing program that was. And we were delighted to have 456 attendees for our session. We love sharing our wonderful locations with you. If you belong to a group who would like an online tour, please contact emma@marysmeanders.co.uk and we’ll be happy to help. |

| Introducing our Man in a Kilt tour We introduced you to Dave last month, now we are delighted to launch our new tour, inspired by the Clanlands book, Men in Kilts series, and the new Clanlands Almanac. Dave will lead you on a 3 day adventure to Glencoe, Fife and Stirling, where you will visit castles, walk in the stunning Countryside, hear tales of Clans and even take part in battle tactics. We will share stories of myths and legends and of course enjoy some of the best food and drink. Active participation will be encouraged, and a little healthy competition may be included. The tour does visit some Outlander locations such as Culross and Falkland, but we will be looking at them in a different light. To enjoy this tour to its full extent a reasonable level of fitness is required as we will be taking a walk in Fife and Glencoe. If you are not sure, get in touch as we are here to help you decide if you can manage. You can find full details of the tour here Our first tour in May is open for booking and you can take advantage of our Launch offer today. If you book by the 20th Dec 2021 the price will be £320 (instead of £350). Use the Promo Code DAVE when booking. This tour is for a maximum of 6 guests, so we expect to sell out quickly Book here |

| Ancestry We have been delving into some exciting new Ancestry stories in the past month, including an unexpected direct link to Alexander Hamilton, as well as other illustrious links, such as John Napier, the Scottish mathematician, for one family. Another Ancestry tour around the Dundee area led us to JM Barrie- author of Peter Pan. His family were weavers in Kirriemuir and he shared a grandfather with our family. A real “Who Do You Think You are” moment. If you are a select member of Amazon Prime in the USA, you may have been offered their new service, Amazon Explore – experiences. We are offering a Scottish Ancestry consultation on this service, and we have met some wonderful people and been given some amazing new stories to delve into. NB- Amazon are now offering their experiences at 30% off as part of their Black Friday campaign. We are happy to offer a similar service direct to you all. It is a one-hour consultation, via Zoom. We ask you to send info. in advance so we can carry out some research before we meet. The cost for this is £75. (Any further follow up research will incur additional costs). Spaces are limited. If you are interested, please email anne@marysmeanders.co.uk to discuss. Coming Soon…. Wedding, handfasting, commemoration, anniversary, and celebration events with local Celebrant Gillian Robertson. We are thrilled to be developing this new venture with Gillian. In the meantime, if you have a special event you would like to mark here in Scotland, please get in touch to discuss. In 2023 it will be the 250th anniversary of the sailing of the Hector ship from Loch Broom in the Scottish Highlands to Nova Scotia. We are already working on a major project with the descendants of Hector group in Pictou and we will be delivering two events to tie in with the commemorations in July and September 2023. If you have ancestors who left Scotland around this time (late 1700’s to early 1800’s), we would love to hear from you, as we are developing quite a wealth of knowledge on this period. Keep watching our Social Media for new items and further details. www.facebook.com/MarysMeanders www.instagram.com/marysmeanders twitter.com/MarysMeanders Keep safe and well and we will see you soon.
